Timothy M. Ryan

Timothy Ryan has been practicing in real estate, real estate lending, and business litigation since 1995. Mr. Ryan is a member of the California State Bar and is admitted to practice in every State and Federal court in California. Mr. Ryan is also a licensed California real estate broker.

Prior to starting The Ryan Firm in July 2004, Mr. Ryan was a name partner at a law firm representing mortgage lenders, mortgage brokers, venture capitalists, small businesses, and buyers and sellers in real estate transactions. Mr. Ryan regularly speaks at national conferences on real estate and banking litigation issues and has published several articles in national mortgage banking and mortgage servicing publications. In addition to his twenty years in civil litigation, Mr. Ryan has extensive experience in bankruptcy law, initially clerking for the Honorable Robert Hendrick in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California, and thereafter in private practice in several high profile real estate development and building services corporate reorganizations. In addition to civil litigation, Mr. Ryan conducts seminars on real estate and mortgage broker best practices to local real estate brokers and loan originators. Prior to attending law school Mr. Ryan worked in the finance group at United Parcel Service and Kraft Foods.

Mr. Ryan received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from California State University, Fullerton in 1988, with a 4.0 GPA within his major, earning the Laverne F. Graves award for advancing the reputation of the California State University, Fullerton within the community. Mr. Ryan went on to receive his Juris Doctor degree from McGeorge School of Law at The University of the Pacific, where he was on the Deans Honor Role. Mr. Ryan received the American Jurisprudence Award for his work in Secured Transactions and clerked at the noted bankruptcy reorganization boutique firm of O'Halloran & Jones.

Michael W. Stoltzman

Michael W. Stoltzman, Jr. joined The Ryan Firm in August 2010, and primarily practices real estate and mortgage lending litigation. Mr. Stoltzman has been a member of the California State Bar and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for all Districts of California. Mr. Stoltzman has been responsible for authoring and successfully arguing several significant Court of Appeal cases, including a published case on a unique issue of California real estate law.

Mr. Stoltzman received a Bachelors of Arts in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from Chapman University in 2006. Mr. Stoltzman then obtained his juris doctor from Chapman University School of Law, where he also studied abroad at Cambridge University at Sidney Sussex in Cambridge, England. Mr. Stoltzman was also a Staff Editor and Articles Editor for the Law Review at Chapman University School of Law. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Stoltzman practiced real estate and business litigation.

Andrew J. Mase

Andrew J. Mase joined the Ryan Firm in October 2015, and primarily focuses his practice on real estate and mortgage lending litigation. Mr. Mase received his juris doctor from Chapman University School of Law. At Chapman, Mr. Mase enjoyed success competing on the school's moot court and negotiation teams, winning the National Sports Law Negotiation Competition and placing as a finalist in the ABA National Moot Court Competition. Prior to law school, Mr. Mase attended the University of California at Berkeley. At Berkeley, Mr. Mase competed on the Varsity Rugby team and was a part of three-national championship winning teams. Currently, Mr. Mase volunteers as the head coach for the University of California, Irvine's women's rugby team. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mase practiced business and employment litigation, with an emphasis on corporate-shareholder and trade secret litigation.

Tadeusz McMahon

Tad McMahon joined the firm in September 2016; his primary focus involves defending clients in real estate and mortgage lending litigation. Mr. McMahon earned his JD from Whittier Law School, and graduated on the Dean’s List/ Honor Roll. Prior to law school, Mr. McMahon earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, with a minor in Philosophy. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Mr. McMahon spent a semester abroad at the university in Orebro, Sweden. Before joining The Ryan Firm, Mr. McMahon was an associate with a firm that specializes in Plaintiff-sided contract litigation and class actions.

Christopher Starks

Christopher Stark joined The Ryan Firm in April 2017, where he primarily practices mortgage lending litigation.  Mr. Stark received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from California State University, Fullerton in 2012, where he was an active member of both the Pi Sigma Alpha honor society and Model United Nations team.  After attending California State University, Fullerton, Mr. Stark received his juris doctor from Chapman University School of Law in 2015.  During his time at Chapman, Mr. Stark participated in the Tax Appeals Assistance Program where he represented clients in their disputes with the State Board of Equalization.  Prior to joining The Ryan Firm, Mr. Stark practiced business and employment litigation, with an emphasis on class action wage and hour claims.  Since joining The Ryan Firm, Mr. Stark has focused his practice entirely on banking related litigation.
